Twelve University of Guam faculty members have become certified through the I Meyeng UOG-Certified Online Teacher Program. A CHamoru word for “expert,” the “I Meyeng” designation is given to faculty members who complete 100 training hours in online
teaching professionalization.
Launched in March 2020, UOG’s Online Teaching Resources Team developed the program
to help faculty gain new skills and professionalize their online classrooms during
the pandemic. The OTR team — led by Director Andrea Sant, Course Development Specialist
Merissa Bunton, and Instructional Design Coach Dean Olah — received a Triton Team
Award in December for the program’s success.
The program includes courses and workshops focused on online teaching best-practice
scholarship. Topics include how to redesign face-to-face curriculum for online delivery
and how to advance Moodle — UOG’s online teaching platform — technology skills. To
date, 365 online teaching certificates have been earned by UOG faculty.
