The University of Guam’s Entrepreneur Society participated in a three-month marketing project to help CHamoru Village promote its merchants through social media platforms. After the Department of Chamorro Affairs reached out to the student organization in September, UOG E-Society members met with CHamoru Village staff on a weekly basis to provide social media insight and guidance.

“I met weekly with the E-Society team, and each one of them brought great energy to the table,” said Jennifer Paulino, manager of CHamoru Village. “I learned many functions, shortcuts, and many other sites that are important in the social media world.”

The students assisted with social media content creation and management — which included troubleshooting accounts, integrating vendors, creating content through graphic design platforms, and scheduling posts.

The collaboration resulted in increased reach and engagement across Facebook and Instagram. According to CHamoru Village’s social media analytics, they had a 257% increase in reach and a 53.8% increase in engagement from Sept. 30 to Dec. 28. Their Facebook reach also grew by 72%, and their engagement was up by 38% during the same period.

The UOG Regional Center for Public Policy and Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation supported the student organization with this project.
