The UOG Tritons defeated the Pirates in a Guam Major League game on Sunday night at Paseo Stadium. The Tritons won 13-11 after the game was called due to the downpour during the sixth inning.

The Tritons started strong in the bottom of the first with five runs after Kyle Martinez hit an RBI single to bring home Arren Yatar, and Brandon Tuquero hit a two-RBI single to bring home Rico Seman and Rico Miner.

After a couple of big innings and a few RBIs, the Pirates took the lead 8-7 in the top of the fifth. The Tritons fought back and had their biggest inning of the night in the bottom of the fifth. Scoring all six runs without a hit, the Tritons used walks and errors to push across runs and take a 13-7 lead.
The Pirates did not quit and came back to cut the Tritons’ lead to 13-11 before the rain finally put an end to the game.

Jarren Gumataotao pitched a complete game for the Tritons with four strikeouts. Rico Miner went 2-for-2 for the Tritons with two runs scored, while Brandon Tequero went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The Tritons improve to 7-2 in the season and are currently tied for second place in the Guam Major League, while the loss for the Pirates leaves them with a 7-4 record. The Tritons will play again at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Paseo Stadium against the Yona RedHawks.
