The University of Guam Women’s Basketball Team opened its Lady Triton – Global Learning Super League with a big win on Wednesday night at the UOG Calvo Field House. After finishing their last season with a 0-9 record, the Lady Tritons came back strong — defeating Team BallHers 61-48 in the league’s opening game. 

UOG jumped out to an 11-6 lead after the first 10 minutes and maintained an eight to 10-point lead going into the fourth quarter. BallHers managed to cut the lead to three points, but the Lady Tritons held on and won by 13 points. The Lady Tritons had a full 13-player roster, with freshman Cori-Nicole Paulino leading the team with 12 points and Myranda Brogger and Lovely Niloobau contributing 11 points each.

In the second game of the night, the Lady Bombers — returning champions from the spring season — defeated Team Acdavate, 71-55. 

UOG will take on Team MIBBC at 8:15 p.m. on Monday at the UOG Calvo Field House. The game will be broadcasted live on PBS Guam Channel 12 and will feature commentary by Fred Peters and Argie Flores.

The Lady Triton – Global Learning Super League

The UOG Global Learning and Engagement Department is the title sponsor of the six-team league, which will mostly play on Monday and Wednesday nights through late October. The championship game is scheduled for Oct. 24 at the Calvo Field House. The league will have its first All-Star game on Oct. 26 to close out the season.

Community members are invited to the Calvo Field House to watch the games. Entry fees are $3 for adults, $2 for non-UOG students, and no charge for UOG students. 

All games will be streamed live on the Triton Athletics Facebook page, and five special games will be aired live by PBS Guam. Fans can also tune into the Triton Sports Zone video podcast to stay up to date with the latest athletics news, watch exclusive athlete interviews, and learn about upcoming events and games.
