Incoming UOG freshmen invited to Triton Summer Academy
All new freshmen coming to the University of Guam this August are invited to register for the Triton Summer Academy, a one-week program designed to boost college-level readiness in writing and math and to acquaint new students with university life. The academy is free to attend.
“For many students, the pandemic presented a challenging learning environment, and it also impacted instructional hours,” said Sharleen Santos-Bamba, interim vice provost for academic excellence. “The Triton Summer Academy is a fun and focused summer school to help students feel prepared to enter college-level classes but also to help them meet new friends and feel a sense of belonging.”
The one-week academy sessions will include a three-hour agenda daily, from Monday to Friday. Every day, the students will engage in an hour-long English Workshop, an hour-long math workshop, and an hour-long workshop focused on financial literacy and various student support services. The academy will also provide students the opportunity to test out of the developmental math class, providing them with a faster track to earning a degree.
Students may register for any of the following morning or afternoon sessions at www.uog.edu/2022-triton-summer-academy
Registration closes 24 hours prior to each start date.
Upon completion of the Triton Summer Academy, each student will receive a $100 credit at the Triton Store and be entered for a chance to win an Apple iPad.
