This week, the University of Guam will distribute $703,400 in direct grant aid to 899 eligible students attending Finakpo’ Summer Sessions A, B, and C. Students will receive between $700 to $1,000 as follows:

• Full-time students who are eligible for Pell Grant will receive $1,000;
• Part-time students who are eligible for Pell Grant will receive $850;
• Full and part-time students not eligible for Pell Grant will receive $700.

The funds will be distributed to students through direct deposit or through the mail.

The disbursements are part of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) III under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 which allocates emergency financial aid grant to students and higher education institutions. Through HEERF III, UOG will distribute up to $6 million to eligible students in 2021-2022. During the previous academic year, UOG distributed nearly $4.56 million directly to eligible students through previous federal funding from HEERF I and II.

“Throughout the pandemic, we’ve looked for innovative ways to support our students financially and academically using these federal funds,” said Senior Vice President and Provost Anita Borja Enriquez. “We are setting up new programs to not only serve all of our students, but those who have the most financial need as we welcome students back to the campus.”

UOG will soon announce new financial relief and support programs for students enrolled in the 2021-2022 academic year, including a second round of direct grant aid for the upcoming semester and a needs-based financial aid program which will provide grants up to $5,000 to eligible students. More information about the programs will be available in the next few weeks.
