NASA wants your ideas!
NASA’s University Student Research Challenge (USRC) invites students to propose new research ideas and projects that could help solve some of the century’s biggest technical challenges in aviation and aeronautics. Through a three-page proposal, applicants are challenged to describe a novel approach to addressing one of the six major research thrusts as outlined in the Strategic Implementation Plan for NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate.

Students are encouraged to apply in teams. Selected applicants will be eligible to receive a grant from NASA that is worth up to $80,000 depending on the scope of the proposed project and the ability of the applicant to raise a portion of that total by coordinating a successful crowdfunding campaign. This effort aims to act as a teaching accelerator, requiring students to demonstrate some entrepreneurial initiative that will also raise public awareness about their research.
Proposals for the upcoming USRC cycle are due on Feb. 26 (ChST). Proposals can also be submitted by the next deadline on June 25 (ChST) to be evaluated in the following cycle. Notices of Intent are not required for this solicitation.
