Six cadets from the University of Guam’s ROTC program earned their commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army at a commissioning ceremony on Dec. 21.

Present at the ceremony at the Latte of Freedom’s Hall of Governors were 150 individuals, including the new officers’ families, distinguished guests, and retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Mark Calvo, a graduate of the university’s first ROTC class in 1982 who was the guest speaker at the event.

The commissioning was the culmination of the four-year ROTC program that the cadets undertook while completing their bachelor’s degrees at the University of Guam.
