Students: Apply for a tech transfer idea competition with NASA
Are you interested in learning more about NASA’s Technology Transfer program? Do you have an entrepreneurial mindset? Don’t miss this chance to put together a team of 4-5 members and work with a NASA researcher to come up with a commercial spinoff of NASA Intellectual Property (IP).
The Minority University Research & Education Project (MUREP) Innovation & Tech Transfer Idea Competition (MITTIC) is offering a "concept to commercialization" training opportunity for full-time undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at accredited minority-serving institutions, like the University of Guam.
Through a 12-week online, interactive training course with NASA L'SPACE Academy from Sept. 3 - Nov, 19, 2020, teams will learn to effectively write a concept proposal that turns innovative ideas into reality. Upon completion of the training, teams will choose a NASA Intellectual Property item from a list and submit a concept paper by Feb. 16, 2021, explaining the commercial viability of the proposed concept.
Up to eight teams will be selected to participate in an online collaboration tool and funded to travel to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston in April 2021. The winning team will receive travel funding for the team to visit, tour, and present at NASA's Ames Research Center and various tech companies in Silicon Valley, Calif., in June 2021.
Qualifying teams could receive incentives of up to $5,000, and the winning team is eligible to receive an additional $10,000. Internship opportunities are also available for qualified participants.
