In memoriam: Suzanne U. Bells, Ph.D.
The University of Guam mourns the loss of Suzanne U. Bells, Ph.D., who passed away on Aug. 24, 2020, at the age of 58. She passed away in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Bells will be missed by her seven children and three grandchildren.
Dr. Bells was an assistant professor of special education in the School of Education. She started work with the University of Guam in December 2012. She earned her doctorate in special education, early intervention, in 2009 from the University of Oregon.
Dr. Bells is believed to be the first woman of Palauan descent to earn a doctorate and teach at the University of Guam. She earned her master's in education from Southern Oregon University in 2004 and her bachelor's in elementary education (magna cum laude) from the University of Guam in 1995.
