UOG Women’s Basketball now 3-1 for season
The University of Guam Women’s Basketball Team played its fourth game of the regular season last night at the UOG Calvo Field House against the Team Legends. The Lady Tritons won 63-36 to solidify their second-place position in the PBS Guam Women’s Basketball League.
The Lady Tritons started off slow, scoring four points in the first five minutes, but then saw their biggest scoring run of game, outscoring the Legends 17-5 by the end of the first quarter. By the end of the first half, the Team Legends were trailing the Tritons 32-11.
Danica Cabrera led the Tritons in the first quarter by scoring 10 points. In addition, Shania Bulala scored 13 points for the game, with six points coming from the free throw line. Paige Persha added 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Niah Siguenza also snatched eight rebounds.
The Tritons ended the game with a strong finish, scoring a total of 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Crystal Pardilla scored 16 points for Team Legends, and Christine Villene grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Lady Tritons are now 3-1 in the league, while the Legends fall to 1-3.
In the first game of the night, Fuetsa played against the UOG Tridents women’s club basketball team. Fuetsa won by a score of 70-27.
Sha Banez scored a total of 15 points for Fuetsa to include three 3-point baskets. Tiffany Terlaje led team Tridents with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Tridents are now 0-4, while Fuetsa leads the league with a 4-0 record.
The UOG Tritons play against their sister team, the Tridents club basketball team, at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, and the Team Legends will play against Fuetsa Basketball Club at 6:30 p.m.
