Varsity Athletic Tryouts are set for:

Men's Soccer: 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Aug. 19-20, at the soccer field behind the Calvo Field House

Women's Basketball: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Aug. 19-20, at the Calvo Field House

Women's Soccer: 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Aug. 21-22, at the soccer Field behind the Calvo Field House

Men's Basketball: 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., Aug. 27 and 29 at the Calvo Field House

Tryouts are open to all full-time UOG students for the fanuchånan (August - December) semester of 2019. Current UOG students must be taking at least 12 credits and have a 2.00 GPA. First-time freshmen must have a 2.50 GPA out of high school to play their first semester at the University. Transfer students must have a 2.00 GPA from their previous school to play at UOG.

Partial tuition scholarships available

Partial tuition scholarships can be earned at the discretion and recommendation of the head coach with the approval of the athletics director.

Students must have a 2.50 GPA to be eligible for a scholarship, first-time freshmen must have a 3.00 GPA out of high school to be eligible for a partial tuition scholarship, and transfer students must have a 2.50 GPA to be eligible.

"UOG varsity sports was first built on tryouts and walk-on student-athletes -- we will always remember that and have open tryouts so any full-time student at UOG can tryout for a sport," said UOG Athletics Director Doug Palmer. "Most of the sport rosters are almost filled before the start of the academic year, but we will always save three to five spots in each sport for students at UOG to make a team and hopefully make a mark on athletics history at UOG as a Triton or Lady Triton."

Triton Athletics is also looking for two players for the women's recreational club teams: the UOG Women's Volleyball Club Tridents and UOG Women's Basketball Club Tridents.
