UOG Men's Soccer routs Guam Shipyard 13-0
The University of Guam Men's Soccer Team unleashed two new weapons against the Guam Shipyard soccer club in the GFA Amateur Men's League on Jan. 24 at the Guam Football Association's National Training Center.
Ryoga Okada and Kchiyo Kawamata are exchange students from Okayama University in Japan attending UOG for the fañomnåkan and fanuchånan semesters. It was determined by the UOG Athletic Compliance Committee that they could play with the Triton Men's Soccer Team, and they went out and showed their soccer ability on Jan. 24 by scoring seven goals combined -- Ryoga with four and Kchiyo with three -- in their first Triton game.
Guam Shipyard entered the game with only 10 players, and UOG took advantage early scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes of the match -- the first two by Okada -- and the Tritons were off to the races as the Shipyard could not slow down the Tritons in the match.
UOG was ahead 6-0 at halftime and won the match 13-0. Besides Ryoga's and Kchiyo's goals, the Tritons had six single goals by James Yang, Ryo Suzuki, Isaiah Macias, Jeffrey Mesias, Hezekiah Cruz, and Shashi Kotwal.
The Tritons are now 4-1-0 on the season and play FC Beercelona next at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 at the GFA National Training Center.
