UOG Men's Soccer pounds Guam Shipyard 18-0
The University of Guam Men's Soccer Team pounded the Guam Shipyard FC 18-0 in the
GFA Budweiser Amateur Men's League on March 29 at the Guam Football Association's
National Training Center.
The Shipyard had only eight players for the match, while UOG started with eight but
later was able to play with 11 when additional players cards arrived at the field.
All players are required to have a players card present in order to play.
UOG got off to a fast start, scoring its first goal in the third minute and its second
goal in the fifth minute. At about the 15-minute mark, the rest of the players' cards
arrived at the soccer field taking the Tritons to an 11 on eight advantage. The team
then scored three more goals in the half to lead 5-0 at halftime.
UOG added another 13 goals in the second half as the Shipyard team wore down from
the Tritons' three-player advantage.
James Yang led UOG with four goals, while Derrick Cruz and Ryoga Okada added three
goals each. Reniel Relucio and Shashikant Kotwal scored two goals each, and Brandon
Flores, Ryo Suzuki, Joseph Quan, and Voitaire Salvador had one goal each for the Tritons.
UOG is now 13-1-0 in the league while the Guam Shipyard FC fell to 2-13-0.
UOG's next match is against FC Beercelona on Friday, April 5, at the GFA National
Training Center. A victory against Beercelona will clinch the GFA Budweiser Amateur
Men's League Championship for the Tritons.
The Tritons defeated FC Beercelona 9-1 in their first meeting.
