UOG Men's Basketball falls to Bulldogs in final match-up
The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team dropped a game 118-100 to the Harper Valley Kennel Bulldogs on Feb. 11 at the UOG Calvo Field House in the final game of the season for the Triton Men's Basketball League.
The Tritons could not catch up in the game, falling behind in the first quarter 34-22. The Bulldogs pushed their lead to 65-48 at halftime and maintained that margin for the second half.
Logan Hopkins led UOG in scoring with 40 points, including 11 three-pointers. Four other Tritons scored in double figures for the game to include Aaron Castro with 15 points, Victor Jones with 12, AJ Carlos with 11, and Nik Cruz with 10 points.
Christian Torres led the Bulldogs in scoring with 38 points.
UOG falls to 2-4 in the league while the Bulldogs end the regular season with a 6-0 record.
In the first game of the night, the MacTech Nerds defeated Guam Community College 74-69. GCC outplayed MacTech in the first half, leading after the first quarter 23-19 and 43-36 at halftime.
But GCC struggled to score in the second half, just adding 26 points in the final 20 minutes, as MacTech scored 38 points in the half and won the game 74-69.
Chaz Alexander top the scoring for the Nerds at 29 points, and Ethan Algre led GCC with 26 points.
MacTech finished the regular season 4-2, while GCC fell to 0-6.
The semi-finals of the Triton Men's Basketball League will be on Sunday, Feb. 17, with the No. 2 MacTech Nerds facing the No. 3 UOG Tritons at 2 p.m. and the No. 1 Harper Valley Kennel Bulldogs facing the No. 4 Guam Community College at 4 p.m.
The Championship Game will be played at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21. All games are played in the UOG Calvo Field House. Admission is free.
