Triton Athletics unveils Wall of Fame
The University of Guam Triton Athletics Department unveiled its Wall of Fame on April 16, 2019, at a ceremony in the UOG Calvo Field House lobby to honor UOG Athletics Hall of Fame members. The Athletics Hall of Fame has 15 members from inductions held in 2017 and 2018.
The Wall of Fame is interactive, with GR codes built into it that connect with videos and information about the Hall of Fame members and from the two Hall of Fame receptions.
Among the attendees at ceremony were five members of the Hall of Fame and one family representative: John Borden, Susan Rechebong Lupola, Hauhouto Diambra-Odi, Dave Zimms, Susie Borden, and Angela Thompson, representing the late Tony Thompson.
University President Thomas W. Krise opened the event with welcoming remarks. Hall of Fame members John Borden (football) and Susan Rechebong Lupola (women's basketball) then gave short messages about their UOG Athletics experiences, and Athletics Director Doug Palmer spoke about the importance of the Hall of Fame and how well this current version of UOG Athletics is doing in such a short time. He also announced a new Booster Club for the Athletics Department.
Nominations for the Hall of Fame Class of 2019 are now being accepted (make nominations to palmerd@triton.uog.edu), with the new class to be announced in August and inducted at a reception scheduled for October.
The Wall of Fame will be updated each year after the Hall of Fame reception. Eventually, the department plans to have a Hall of Fame Room in the UOG Calvo Field House once the Student Activity Center is built to house the Admissions, Financial Aid, and Trio offices currently housed at the Field House.
