The University of Guam Men's Soccer Team had its 16-match winning streak broken on May 16 at the Guam Football Association's Challenge Cup. Bank of Guam Strykers, a Premier League team, defeated UOG 3-1.

The game was filled with yellow cards as the Strykers took the lead early, scoring the first goal five minutes into the game, but the Tritons came back and tied the match 1-1 at the 12-minute mark as UOG's leading scorer Ryoga Okada added to his total.

The first half ended in a red card for a Stryker player, leaving Bank of Guam to play with 10 players the rest of the game.

At halftime, the match was tied 1-1, but Bank of Guam scored its second goal on a fastbreak as four BOG players rushed the goal and scored at the 61-minute mark.

A second BOG player was red carded and the Strykers were down to nine players with about 30 minutes left in the game.

But UOG was unable to take advantage of the player shortage for the Strykers as the Tritons had several chances to score but could not capitalize. The Strykers scored again to make the game 3-1 with 15 minutes to go and went on to win the match.

UOG Athletics Director Doug Palmer said, "It was a great season for the UOG Tritons. We won the Amateur League and had a 16-match winning streak. We wish to play in the Premier League next year, but this game shows we still have a ways to go to play the best teams on the island, but it was a good lesson for us to carry forward."

The Tritons finished 16-2-0 for the year and went 15-1-0 in the GFA Budweiser Amateur League.
