University of Guam students seeking research opportunities relative to NASA’s aeronautics and space work are encouraged to apply for the Undergraduate Fellowship Program for the Fañomnåkan (January-May) 2020 semester.

The fellowship is geared towards the support and enhancement of science, technology, and education as they pertain to NASA’s programs, including the study of the universe, evolution of life, and our connection to space, and growth of STEM innovations in an era of exploration and discovery for the general welfare of the community. The program encompasses a broad range of STEM fields, such as geology, biology, oceanography, astronomy, computer science, medicine, and more.

U.S. citizens who are full-time undergraduates with a declared major are eligible to apply. Applicants must have a mentor — UOG faculty, senior researcher, or other qualified personnel — to guide them through the duration of the program. Fellowships will be awarded based on a proposed project’s quality, feasibility, and relevance to NASA’s goals, as well as the applicant’s academic aptitude. Women, underrepresented minorities, and individuals with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply.

UOG Space Grant Fellows are expected to work 10 to 15 hours a week on their projects throughout the semester. A stipend of $4,000 per semester and up to $500 for supplies and travel will be provided.

Visit www.spacegrant.hawaii.edu/fellowships.html to apply or learn more about the program. UOG applicants must submit their initial research proposals to Dr. Romina King by Aug. 21 for preliminary review. Applications can be sent to roking@triton.uog.edu.

UOG is a member of the University of Hawai’i Space Grant Consortium, which participates in the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program and administers the Undergraduate Fellowship Program.
