Alumnus to speak on Guam birds at upcoming MARC Seminar

The Richard Flores Taitano Micronesian Area Research Center (MARC) at the University of Guam announces its 13th installment of its seminar series will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (CLASS) Lecture Hall on the UOG campus. It will be a public lecture by Celestino Aguon, division chief of the Division of Aquatic & Wildlife Resources, titled “Birds of Guam, A Personal and Historic Perspective."

Aguon graduated from George Washington High School in 1975 and earned a
degree in biology from the University of Guam in 1979. He received a master’s degree in zoology from the University of Hawaii in 1983. Tino began conducting bird surveys at the Guam Department of Agriculture, Division of Aquatic & Wildlife Resources in 1979 and has served as division chief there for many years.

The MARC Seminar Series lectures were initiated in the 1970s to promote the Micronesian Studies Program at the University of Guam. The talks are held on the second or third Tuesday of the month and prerecorded for broadcast on YouTube and the Guam Legislature Channels: GTA 21 & Docomo 117.
