UOG Women's Soccer goes to 4-0 in victory over Sidekicks

The University of Guam Women's Soccer Team kept its undefeated streak going with a 4-0 victory over the Venue Sidekicks on Nov. 18 in the Guam Football Association's Bud Light Amateur Women's League at the GFA National Training Center.

The Sidekicks came out strong and dominated the first few minutes of the first half, keeping the ball in their offensive end, but the Lady Tritons began to shift the ball to their offensive end of the field as the game moved forward.

The UOG defense began to solidify during the match as the Sidekicks could never break past the UOG defensive line to get a shot on the goal, and the Tritons began to move past the Sidekicks' defense for several fast break attempts on goal.

The Lady Tritons opened the scoring at about the 20-minute mark and led 1-0 at halftime and then scored three goals in the second half. Elisha Benavente scored three times for the Lady Tritons, and Koholali’i M. Maertens added a single goal. Ariya Cruz dished out three assists.

UOG is now 4-0-0 this season and finishes the fanuchånan portion of the schedule at 5:30 p.m. next Sunday, Nov. 25, against the Venue Slay team. The Venue Slay was the Spring 2018 D2 Champions while UOG was the D2 Champions in the Spring and Fall of 2017. But Team Slay did defeat the Tritons twice in the regular season play during UOG's championship seasons while UOG defeated Team Slay each season for the championship. UOG did not field a team during Team Slay's championship season.
