The University of Guam Men’s Basketball Team dropped its final game of the fanuchånan semester to MacTech on Nov. 17 with a final score of 88-83 in the loser bracket of the Bombers Basketball League at the Coral Reef Fitness and Sports Center on the Andersen Air Force Base.

MacTech and the Tritons had split games in the regular season, with UOG coming out on top 89-78 and losing 105-91.

MacTech took the lead in the first period and held on to a five- to nine-point lead for the whole first half, leading 22-15 after the first quarter and 44-40 at halftime.

The Tritons began to gain some momentum in the third period, cutting the MacTech lead to two points twice in the period and to one point once, but the Techsters were able to hold off the Triton rallies and move to a 69-63 lead as the third period ended.

UOG saved its best rally for late in the fourth period, as the Tritons tied the game at 78 with three minutes left in the matchup and took their first lead of the game 81-78 with Logan Hopkins' three-point shot with 2:30 left on the clock, but after a MacTech timeout, the Techsters ran off eight straight points to lead 86-81 with less than a minute left in the game. They went on to win the game 88-83 when the final buzzer sounded.

UOG ends the fall season with a 1-7 record and plays next in a Triton League that will start in late January. MacTech will face the Bulldogs in next weekend’s loser bracket, as the Bulldogs forfeited to the Andersen Bombers on Nov. 17, as the Bulldogs did not have enough players to play.
