UOG Tritons Pound Pacific Islands University 144-35
The University of Guam Men’s Basketball Team pounded the Tide from Pacific Islands University on Friday night at the UOG Calvo
Field House 144-35 in the Guam Men’s College Basketball League.
UOG came out with an intense defense that led to many layups and open 3 pointers,
and on this night, the Trident team took advantage of the opportunities and the PIU
Tide had to suffer from the consequences and very lop-sided score.
The game was never close, the Tide tried to slow the pace down as best it could in
a game that uses a 24 second clock but the Triton defense had 15 steals on the night
and most of those were converted into layups or 3 point shots. The Tritons were up
68-19 at half and it got worse in the 2nd half that lead to the 144-35 final.
Anthony Castro led UOG with 27 points and Ryan Nangauta added 25 points. AJ Brown
added 17 points with 10 rebounds and 7 assists on the night. Dinery Lorenco led PIU
with 21 points.
The Tritons are now 4-0 in the GMCBL after the first half of the season and they take
on Harvest Baptist Bible College on Saturday, February 10 at Noon. Pacific Islands
is 0-4 and face HBBC on Monday, February 12 at 6:15 p.m.
In the first game on Friday night, the UOG Trident Men’s Basketball Club defeated
Harvest Baptist 105-51. The Tridents are now 2-2 on the season while HBBC moved to
1-3.
