UOG Recreation Department Trident Basketball Club Results From Saturday Basketball Games
UOG Trident Men's Basketball Team Moves Into Tie For 2nd Place In GMCBL
The University of Guam Recreation Department Trident Men's Basketball Team moved into
a tie for 2nd place in the Guam Men's College Basketball League with a 81-66 win over
Guam Community College on Saturday in the UOG Calvo Field House.
The Tridents MBC won their third straight game in the GMCBL and moved into a tie with
GCC for 2nd place. The two teams have split games now in the regular season. GCC defeated
the Tridents 91-80 to open the season.
The Tridents came out with their fast playing style and moved out to a 10 point lead
early and pretty much held the lead for the first 20 minutes, leading at half-time
42-30. The GCC team tried to get back into the game and cut the lead down to single
digits at one part early in the 2nd half, but the Tridents fought off each attempt
by GCC to get back in the game and pushed the lead out to 14-15 points for most the
final 20 minutes and won 81-68.
Devin Sudo led the Tridents with 18 points while O. Mad scored 11 points with 12 rebounds
for the club. Ethan Alegre led all scorers for GCC with 38 points and 14 rebounds.
The Tridents are 3-2 on the season and play the league leading UOG Tritons on Monday,
February 19th at 6:15 p.m. GCC faces the Tritons this Monday, February 12 at 8:00
p.m. Both games are in the UOG Calvo Field House and admission is free.
In the first game of the day, the UOG Tritons defeated Harvest Baptist Bible College
134-56. The Tritons moved to 5-0 in the league while HBBC is 1-4 in the league.
League Leading Fuetsa BC Routs UOG Recreation Department Trident Women's Basketball
Club 83-39
Trident Women's Basketball League leader Fuetsa Basketball Club defeated the UOG Trident
Women's Basketball Club on Saturday 83-39 in the UOG Calvo Field House.
The 6-0 Fuetsa team ran the floor well all game long, scoring both from 3 point range
and under the basket as the game was not close as Fuetsa jumped out to a 25-6 lead
after the first quarter and never looked back.
Via Defant led the Trident team with 11 points as no other team member scored in double
figures. April Talledo scored 27 points for Fuetsa to lead all scores and Anya Mendiola
added 17 points for FBC.
UOG is now 0-6 on the season and have a long break until Thursday, February 22 when
they will play Guam Community College at 6:15 p.m. Fuetsa BC plays the Royal Basketball
Club on the same night at 8:00 p.m. Both games will be in the UOG Calvo Field House
and admission is free.
In the 1st TWBL league game of the day, the Royals won by forfeit over the Crusaders
due to a lack of players.
