UOG Men's Soccer Defeated By BOG Strykers 6-2
Bank of Guam Strykers Defeat UOG Men's Soccer Team 6-2 On Wednesday Night
The University of Guam Men's Soccer Team suffered a 6-2 defeat on Wednesday night at the Guam Football Association's National Training Center to the Bank of Guam Strykers Team I in a make-up match from the GFA Budweiser Premier League.
The Stryker's team had been restocked with some college players from the US mainland who are back on island for the summer, while the UOG team has 3 players off island after the spring semester is finished plus one UOG player had to sit-out for a red card last game and UOG Captain Dylan Naputi is still recovering from a pulled hamstring.
The Strykers scored first about 10 minutes into the first half and scored again at the 25 minute mark to lead 2-0 at half-time. The Strikers scored their 3rd goal at the 55 minute mark but then UOG broke through with a goal by Shashikant Kotwal at the 65 minute mark but BOG scored again 2 minutes later to make the game 4-1.
Kyle Legozzie scored the 2nd goal for UOG on an assist by Kotwal, but the Strykers finished the match with 2 more goals for a final score of 6-2 Strykers.
UOG finished the Budweiser Premier League regular season with a 12-3-1 record and in 3rd place for the season. The BOG Strykers ended the regular season at 12-4-0 and tied for 4th place. Both UOG and BOG reached the semi-finals of the Premier League Playoffs in different brackets.
Hopefully 2-3 players will return to the UOG line-up for the weekend, as the Tritons open the Jamaican Grill GFA Cup tournament on Sunday night, June 10th, at 6:00pm against the EuroCar FC.
UOG's overall record for 2017-18 is 13-4-1 and this is the last event for the team's 2017-18 season.
