UOG Announces SHRM Competition Winners

The University of Guam Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Student Chapter held its 2nd annual Student HR Competition on April 6 & April 14, 2018 at the School of Business and Public Administration. The two-part event featured more than 50 undergraduate students in teams of 4-5.
In the preliminary round held on April 6th, 10 student teams competed in an intense multiple choice Elimination Round. The top 5 teams from this round moved on to the Final Case Study Competition Round on April 14th. For this Final Round, teams were challenged to create a presentation addressing problems in the given HR case.
Taking first place, was the “Rack 'Em Up” team, with student members Kevin Conlu, Edward dela Cruz, Seth Olmstead, and Samuel Mantanona. In second place was team "Logic,” with student members Ryan Brown, Apiken Irons, James Yang, and Michael Topasna.

All the teams did exceptional jobs, and the judges (Ms. Joann Muna, GCC HR Director & SHRM Regional Coordinator; Ms. Charlotte Huntsman, G4S HR Director and incoming SHRM Guam President; Ms. Yolanda Padrones, Triple J HR Director and SHRM Guam VP of Membership; Ms. Daphne Leon Guerrero, IP&E HR Manager and SHRM Guam Treasurer; and Dr. John Rivera, UOG Faculty and SHRM Guam Student Liaison) were very impressed.
