The UOG Recreation Department Trident Men's Basketball Team defeated Harvest Baptist
Bible College on Saturday 82-59 to claim 2nd place in the regular season final standings
with a 5-3 record in the Guam Men's College Basketball League at the UOG Calvo Field
House.
The Tridents were down by as much as 9 points in the first half as Harvest Baptist
played a solid early game but the Tridents deeper bench and inside presence was too
strong for HBBC as the Tridents took the lead in the later stages of the first half
to go up 36-28 at half-time.
The Trident MBC wore Harvest Baptist down in the 2nd half with every member of the
15 man roster scoring and pushed their lead up to 23 points to win 82-59 at the final
buzzer.
Elias David led the Tridents with 20 points while no other Trident scored in double
figures but 14 other club players did scored in the game. John Masao led Harvest Baptist
with 19 points and Ernie Ling added 13 points..
The Tridents ran their record to 5-3 for the regular season and will face Guam Community
College (4-4) on Tuesday night at the UOG Calvo Field House at 8:00pm.The winner of the semi-final will move to the championship game next Saturday, March
10th at 4:00pm. The teams have split games in the regular season, with the Tridents winning 81-66
and GCC winning the other game, 91-80.
The opening round of the GMCBL begins on Monday night, with #4 Harvest Baptist (3-5)
playing #5 Pacific Islands University (0-8) at 6:15pm. The winner of that game will face the #1 Seeded UOG Tritons (8-0) on Tuesday night
at 6:15pm.
