Trident Men's Basketball Club Claims First Victory On Tuesday Night, 103-51 Over Pacific Islands University
The University of Guam Recreation Department Trident Men's Basketball Club broke their
14 game losing streak on Tuesday night in the Guam Men's College Basketball League
with a 103-51 rout over Pacific Islands University Tide in the UOG Calvo Field House.
Pacific Island was late showing up to the game and had only 4 minutes to get prepared
for the contest, so the Tridents took advantage and went out to an early lead that
PIU could never recover from.
The Tridents went up 49-18 at half and while the Tide settled down in the 2nd half,
the game was never in doubt as the Tridents ran hard and scored a lot of uncontested
lay-ups in the 2nd half.
Davin Sudo led the Trident MBC with 29 points on the night and Nikka Lekka added 13
points as the Tridents spread the scoring out to 12 different players. Dinery Lorenzo
scored 24 points for the Tide, the only double digit scorer for PIU.
The Tridents improve to 1-2 on the season while PIU falls to 0-3 so far. The Tridents
take on Harvest Baptist Bible College on Friday at 6:15 p.m. while Pacific Islands
takes on league leading UOG Tritons at 8:00 p.m. in the UOG Calvo Field House.
In the 2nd game of the evening, 2nd place Guam Community College defeated Harvest
Baptist 87 to 65 to push their record to 3-1 in the league. HBBC is now 1-2 in the
GMCBL. GCC begins the 2nd half of the season on Saturday, at 4:00 p.m., against the
Trident Men's Basketball Club, while Harvest Baptist Bible College plays the Trident
MBC on Friday night at 6:15 p.m. in the UOG Calvo Field House. The first half of the
GMCBL ends on Friday night, while the 2nd half of the season starts on Saturday.
On Saturday, the GMCBL and the Trident Women's Basketball League play split doubleheaders
as the "College League" plays at Noon (UOG Tritons - Harvest Baptist) and 4:00 p.m.
(Trdent MBC - GCC) and the TWBL plays at 2:00 p.m. (Royal BC vs Crusader BC) and 6:00
p.m. (Trident WBC vs Fuetsa BC).
