First Ever Trident Women’s Basketball League Tips Off Saturday at the UOG Calvo Field House

2/12/2018

The University of Guam Trident Women’s Basketball Club Team opens their first ever full league schedule on Saturday at Noon in the UOG Calvo Field House with a game against the Crusaders Basketball Club. Guam Community College faces the Fuetsa Basketball Club at 4:00pm. There are two Guam Men’s College Basketball League games at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. as well and the 6:00 p.m. game features the UOG Men’s Basketball Club Team.

The UOG Women’s Basketball Club has played in the GBA 3X3 Tournament this past summer for the island championship and played a couple of games in the fall semester. But now the Tridents will have a 5-team league that will play an 8 game regular season and then have a league championship tournament in March.

The league consists of:

  • UOG Trident Women’s Basketball Club
  • Guam Community College
  • Fuetsa Basketball Club
  • Crusader Basketball Club
  • Royal Basketball Club

The Tridents are coached by Julian Satisak who works in the UOG Recreation Department. There is hope that the Tridents WBC may be the next team to become a varsity team and pick-up a part-time coach to lead the program.

Guam Community College will have a college team in the league as well, while the other teams are Guam Club teams.

The club teams will give both UOG and GCC hard competition to face, while the Crusaders and Royals will be made up of young island talent, the Fuetsa team will be made up of a wide variety of players. The TWBL will be the sister league to the Guam Men’s College Basketball League and both leagues will play several Saturdays together that they share the UOG Calvo Field House with the other league and have alternating games to promote and market both leagues.

UOG Club Teams must be made up of students at UOG, but they only have to be part-time students, not like the varsity teams who are full-time students with a 2.00 GPA.
