UOG Welcomes New Professor of Military Science
The University of Guam welcomes Lt. Col. Christopher Rivers as its new Professor of
Military Science for the UOG Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Program.
A native of Saint Simons Island, GA, Rivers graduated from North Georgia College in
2001 where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army’s Military
Police Corps. Rivers also earned a Master of Arts in Business and Organizational Security
Management from Webster University in 2007.
“I’m a product of an ROTC program,” Rivers said. “What I’m doing here at UOG with
our cadets is what I experienced nearly 17 years ago. But they are unique in an amazing
way. Guam brings a whole other quality and leadership characteristic out of them.
I feel humbled and privileged to be here.”
No stranger to the Pacific, Rivers’ first duty assignment was as a platoon leader
in the 552nd Military Police Company at Camp Hialeah in Busan, South Korea. After
many years, he found himself once again stationed in Korea from 2010 to 2014. He most
recently served as the Branch Chief of the Military Police Material Capabilities Branch
with the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
