UOG Men’s Basketball Sweeps Guam Basketball Challenge With 8-0 Record
The University of Guam Men’s Basketball Team won the Guam Basketball Challenge on Saturday afternoon at the Coral Reef Recreation
Center on the Andersen Air Force Base with a 95-82 victory over the Bombers on their
home court.
The Tritons came out with an aggressive full court defense to open the game and ran
up a quick 17-0 lead in the first few minutes of the game. The UOG offense was running
on all cylinders with 3 pointers hitting from the outside and solid inside play. UOG
would lead 30-10 at the end of the first quarter and would retain the 20 point lead
throughout most of the game.
UOG was up 52-32 at half, 75-57 at the end of 3 periods and 95-82 at the end. UOG’s
biggest lead was 29 points and the final score would be smallest lead UOG had since
early first quarter.
Blake Jenkins led UOG with 23 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocked shots while JFK graduate
Billy Bilger added 20 points, with most from 3 point range. He also led UOG with 4
steals. Geno Anderson scored 12 points, and Anthony Brown had 7 assists that afternoon.
UOG finished the tournament 8-0 and scored 100+ points 5 times. The Tritions will
return to action on October 11 as they open the 1st Triton Men’s Basketball League
at the UOG Calvo Field House.
