UOG Presidential Lecture Features Dr. Tom Brislin
The University of Guam is proud to welcome alumnus Dr. Tom Brislin, Associate Dean
of Arts and Humanities at the University of Hawaii at Manoa as the 32nd speaker in
the Presidential Lecture Series.
The lecture will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, in the College of
Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) Lecture Hall on the UOG Campus. The title
of his lecture is “Confessions of an Enemy of the People: Fake, Real, and the Rest
of Us.”
Brislin received the University's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2014.
About the Speaker:
Brislin earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, Secondary Education from UOG and an
M.A. and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Presently the associate dean of the
College of Arts & Sciences and full professor at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, he
also served as chair of the Academy for Creative Media and founding chair of the School
of Communications.
He continues to serve as the head juror for the Guam International Film Festival this
year, where his areas of expertise span a wide range that includes indigenous film
and media ethics. He has also served as a juror for the Hawaii and Shanghai International
Film Festivals as well.
