UOG Men’s Soccer Wins Men’s League Opener 3-0
The University of Guam Men’s Soccer Team won their opening match of the 2017-18 Guam Football Association Men’s League 3-0
over the LOA Heat at the GFA National Training Center on Wednesday night.
Both teams showed rust from several months off the pitch as the Heat produced a fast
front line but could not keep from being off-sides when they went on the attack. The
Tritons could not find the open man for a shot when in Heat territory. But UOG’s Jack
Diambra finally broke through for the Tritons at about the 35 minute mark with a 20
yard shot that beat the Heat goalkeeper to left corner of the goal and gave UOG a
1-0 lead going into half-time.
The Heat came out fast and furious to start the 2nd half and put a lot of pressure
on the UOG defense and goalkeeper Sean Evans, but the Tritons held and did not allow
a goal while one counter attack off the LOA pressure lead to the 2nd Triton goal.
Jack Diambra finished the UOG scoring with another 20+ yard shot and goal to make
it 3-0 with about 15 minutes left in the match..
UOG is now 1-0-0 and play the Bobcat Rovers on Friday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. at
the GFA NTC.
