University of GuamHaving completed his yearlong information science research project, recent University of Guam graduate Carlo Sugatan earlier this year attended the iConference in Wuhan, China to give a presentation.

Sugatan and his team members researched how immigrant adults affected by the digital divide use mobile communication applications such as Facebook and Whatsapp. The end goal was to better design a user interface and user experience for this target audience.

The iConference is an annual academic conference focused on bringing students and researchers from around the world to share insights to advance the field of information science.

Sugatan graduated from UOG last May with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. While currently working as a research assistant at the School of Health, he hopes to attend graduate school in the near future.
