MARC Seminar Series Kicks Off with First Speaker Dr. Robert Underwood

UOGThe Richard Flores Taitano Micronesian Area Research Center (MARC) at the University of Guam announces its next installment in its seminar series, featuring a lecture by UOG President Dr. Robert A. Underwood on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 titled “The Birth of the First CHamoru” beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (CLASS) Lecture Hall on the UOG campus.

“The seminar series was implemented in the 1970s as a way to promote the Micronesian Studies Program and encourage interest in the people, culture, history and language in this region,” MARC Director Monique Storie. 

The lectures are open to the public, free of charge and will be held on the second or third Tuesday of every month beginning at 6:30 p.m. MARC will announce the speaker and the topic at the beginning of each month.

The lectures will be prerecorded by PBS Guam and Rlene "Live” Productions and aired in its entirety on PBS Guam and YouTube within a week of its delivery.

MARC is considered a world-class research facility for social sciences and humanities studies of the people of the Marianas and Micronesia. Everyone intent on learning about the culture, history, language of the people in this region are welcome to visit MARC’s research library.
