Guam Women’s College Volleyball League To Spike Season 2 On Saturday
The University of Guam Calvo Field House will host the Guam Women’s College Volleyball
League starting on Saturday, September 9 at 2:00 p.m. as rivals UOG Tritons (Varsity) and UOG Tridents (Club) face each other in opening match of Season 2. The last time
these two teams played was for the first GWCVL Championship last March when the Tritons
came out on top 3-1.
Pacific Islands University and Guam Community College play in the 2nd match of the
day at 4:00 p.m. Both teams played last year. GCC finished 3-4 on the season while
Pacific Islands were 0-7 on the season but was the most improved team in the league
from start to finish.
The GWCVL Championship will be on October 7 at the UOG Calvo Field House with semi-finals
at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., with the championship at 2:00 p.m. The season will consist
of a double round robin of matches (6 total for each team) and Championship will be
seeded according to the regular season finish of each team, #1 vs #4, #2 vs #3, and
winners to championship.
The UOG Tritons have a new coach in Mike Rabago and assistant coach Art Stanley who will debut on
Saturday. The Tritons have 7 returners from the 2016-17 back this season with 9 new
team members as well.
There also will be a Guam Men’s College Volleyball League in November.
The UOG Tritons and UOG Tridents game will be shown "Live" on Youtube and Facebook Live (UOG Athletic Facebook page) on Saturday as well.
