UOG Women's Volleyball Wins First Regular Season Title With Victory Over PIU
The University of Guam Women's Volleyball Team won their first ever regular season
title on Tuesday night as they ran their record to 5-0 in Guam Women's College Volleyball
League at the UOG Calvo Field House with a 3-0 victory over Pacific Islands University.
The Lady Tritons won by scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-23, as the scrappy "Tide" of
PIU made 2 of 3 sets very competitive by playing their style of just getting the ball
back over the net and letting the opponent make the mistakes. UOG is now 2-0 against
PIU on the season and will face the Tide once more in the opening round of the GWCVL
Championship Tournament on March 11. UOG will be the #1 seed while PIU will be the
#4 seed.
The University of Guam Women's Volleyball Club Team also defeated Guam Community College
3-1 last night at the UOG Calvo Field House in the Guam Women's College Volleyball League and moved
into 2nd place in the league.
The UOG Women's Club Team (3-2) and Guam Community College (2-3) will face each other
in the other semi-final at the Championship with the winners playing for the GWCVL
Tournament Championship.
The UOG Varsity and UOG Club teams will play next Tuesday night in the final regular
season matches of the year at 8:00 p.m. GCC and PIU will also play at 6:00 p.m. in
the UOG Calvo Field House. Admission is free.
The UOG Varsity Tritons will soon begin play in the Guam Volleyball Federation League
as well.
