UOG Women’s Soccer Dominates Most of the Play But Loses 3-0
The University of Guam Women’s Soccer Team dominated most of the match on Sunday at Guam Football Association National Training
Center but still lost 3-0 to ISC Team Slay in the GFA Women’s 9 On 9 League opener
for both teams.
The Lady Tritons controlled the middle third of the field on Sunday with superior
skill and athletic ability, but when it came to attacking their offensive third, the
team showed little ability or skill of finishing an attack and even missed a penalty
kick in the first half by hitting the goal post and the ball bouncing away.
When Team Slay was able to break through the middle of the field, there was little
defense standing in their way besides goalkeeper Janice Piolo as the defensive third
was often void of UOG defenders, which allowed several break away attacks with Team
Slay scoring once in the first half and twice in the 2nd half to put the match away.
It is the first loss of the year for UOG Women’s Soccer, after going 6-0 in the Fall
7 On 7 League.
UOG is 0-1 on the season and plays again next Sunday at 6:30 p.m. against the Bank
of Guam Strykers (BOG Strykers) at the GFA National Training Center
