UOG Varsity Volleyball Wins Classic Match With UOG Volleyball Club 3-2

The University of Guam Volleyball Teams saved the best match of the Guam Women's College Volleyball League regular season until the last match of the year as the UOG Varsity Team pulled out a 3-2 match by the scores of 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 25-21 and 15-10. The opening set was a great comeback by the UOG Varsity Team, as the Tritons were down 19-14 and looked to be ready to lose the opening set, but the team came back to score 7 straight points to take a 21-19 lead and eventually won the set 26-24 when both teams had set points in the game. The Club Tritons came back to win the next two sets but the UOG Varsity played a stronger 4th set to win by 4 points and scored the last 5 points of the match in the 5th set, as the teams were tied at 10 all.

UOG Varsity runs their record to 6-0 for the GWCVL regular season and will be the #1 Seed at the GWCVL Championship Tournament. UOG Club is now 3-3 on the season and tied with Guam Community College (3-3) for 2nd place in the league. Based on the tie breakers, UOGC will be the #2 Seed in the Championship Tournament and GCC #3, as the Club Tritons had 12 set victories during the season while GCC had 11 set wins. Both teams will face each other in the Championship first round on March 11.

GCC defeated Pacific Islands University in the first match of the evening in four sets 3-1 by the scores of 25-22, 26-24, 25-27 and 25-17. Pacific Islands is 0-6 in the league and will face the UOG Varsity in the first round of GWCVL Championship on March 11.
