UOG Varsity Beats UOG Club 104 to 69 In GMCBL Action
The University of Guam Men's Varsity Basketball Team beat the UOG Men's Club Basketball
Team on Thursday night in the UOG Calvo Field House 104 to 69 in the Guam Men's College
Basketball League.
With the win, the Varsity Tritons win the GMCBL regular season title and clinch the
#1 seed at the GMCBL Tournament on March 9 & 11. The UOG Varsity is now 5-0 on the
season and will have a forfeit win next week in their last regular season game against
Harvest Baptist Bible College.
Both teams came out sluggish in the opening 10 minutes of the game, but the UOG Varsity
increased the defensive pressure in the 2nd part of the 2nd half and started to pull
away in the game with points in the paint, as the Varsity outscored the Club 56-20
inside of the lane. The UOG Club could never make a run at the Varsity Tritons as
UOGV built up to a 43-point lead at one point. They won by 35.
The Club Tritons are now 2-3 on the season and are tied with Harvest Baptist Bible
College for 2nd place in the league.
Dezdin Fikes led UOGV with 32 points on the night while Jason Seid scored 24 for the
Club Tritons.
Next Friday, the UOG Men's Basketball Club Team plays GCC in the final regular season
game at 6:00 p.m. in the UOG Calvo Field House. If the UOGC team wins the game, they
will be the #2 seed in the league, followed by HBBC at #3 and GCC at #4. If GCC wins,
then UOGC, HBBC and GCC will all have 2-4 records and be tied for 2nd place. The fewest
points allowed between tied teams will then determine the seeding, as all of the teams
will be 2-2 against each other.
