UOG Tritons Fight Hard, Fall to KFC Bombers
University of Guam Tritons scored just 6 points in the first quarter, and fell to the KFC Bombers, 92-49 last Thursday night in the UOG Calvo Field House. This was the Tritons third defeat in as many games during the current Guam Basketball Association season.
The Tritons trailed 23 to 6 after one quarter and 47 to 19 at half-time. The UOG squad
is noted for its second half comebacks, but the Bombers lead was too much to overcome,
pulling ahead by as much as 46 points and forcing the Tritons into 30 turnovers. The
Bombers also dominated the paint, outscoring the Tritons 54 to 22.
Despite the three losses, the Tritons understand that starting a developing a new athletic program is a process. “We are trying to build a culture of hard work, commitment and discipline that will weather any storm of success or failure on the scoreboard, said Head Coach Brent Tipton. “We understand results won't be overnight, but as a team we are diligently working to get better every single day.”
UOG was led by Giorgio Meneses with 9 points, Elias David with 8 points and Andrew Carlos with 7. Jorge Piolo and Mark Canovas pulled down 8 rebounds each.
Ollie Bradley led the Bombers with 30 points.
UOG is now 0-3 on the season and the Bombers move to 2-0. UOG plays on Sunday at 2:00pm
in the Phoenix Center against the Toothfaries.
