UOG Press to host Website Launch Party and Holiday Book Fair

1/5/2018

An array of academic and literary texts about Guam and Micronesia will soon be available for purchase online at the University of Guam Press’ new website. UOG Press is the University’s publishing house based at the Micronesian Area Research Center. It will launch its website at a holiday book fair on December 2, 2016 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the UOG Student Center Rotunda.

The public is invited to the fair to explore the diversity of publications produced by the University of Guam community, including the titles available for purchase from UOG Press (Micronesian Area Research Center Publications and Taiguini Books); informational reports and journals from various disciplines at the University; and publications written by UOG faculty.

“UOG Press is a community-driven publisher – we are guided by the interests and needs of our region,” said Managing Editor Victoria-Lola Leon Guerrero. “Representatives from the Press will be available at the event to also answer questions about how members of the community can publish their books with UOG Press.”

The new UOG Press website will contain rich information about its inventory of publications, submission guidelines, and other exciting publishing events.

Among the publications that will be available for sale both online and at the book fair is the top-selling History of the Mariana Islands that was launched by UOG Press in September. The holiday book fair will also feature author readings of the Chamorro children’s books published in the summer by Taiguini Books (the literary division of UOG Press) including, Ma Guaiya Yu’, si Nåna yan si Tåta; I Malingu Na Påtgon; Guaiyayon na Trongkon Mansanita; and Si Pedro yan i Hilét Oru na Ko’ko’.

The UOG community and the general public are invited to join UOG Press for light refreshments and to purchase local books. Free postcards with artwork from UOG Press’ books will be given as a thank-you to all attendees of the event.
