UOG Men's Soccer Drops Final Match 1-0
The University of Guam Men's Soccer Team dropped their 3rd straight match to the LOA Heat at the Guam Football Association National Training Center on Tuesday night.
The UOG Triton defense and goal-keeper played well in the match, as the Heat offense dominated most of the contest, keeping constant pressure on UOG team with their speed and skill upfront. Mike Topasna, the UOG Goalkeeper, had a superior game, stopping many shots on goal and deflecting two penalty kicks to save goals as well.
The match was tied 0-0 at half-time, but the Heat broke through at the 6 minute mark of the 2nd half to score. The UOG offense came alive twice in the match, at the 25 minute mark of the 2nd half. UOG pressured the Heat defense and missed a goal on a break-away that got passed their goal-keeper. UOG had several other chances in the next few minutes, but the Heat regained the momentum and dominated play again until the last 5 minutes of the game. That's when UOG made another surge but could never get a clear shot on goal. The final score of the game was LOA Heat 1, Tritons 0.
The Tritons are now 5-3-0 on the season while the Heat move up to 5-2-0. The match completed the 2016 schedule for the Tritons, and they will return to play in 2017 as they have 12 more matches in the GFA Men's League (Division II).
