Nearly 30 communication, biology, chemistry and nursing students and faculty gathered at the Fiesta Resort Guam on April 1 during the annual American Association of University Women (AAUW) event to support professional women in the workplace.

Junior biology major Althea Tapales was the recipient of the $500 University of Guam AAUW award that can be used towards her schooling. Tapales intends to go to medical school after graduating from UOG and is in the process of establishing a student chapter of AAUW at UOG that will work to support the professional development of university women.
