With the support of federal partners, local dignitaries, and the island community, the University of Guam celebrated the opening of the newly renovated Triton Fitness Center.

"The eagerness and enthusiasm from the student body about the opening of the Triton Fitness Center is quite palpable around campus," said UOG Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez. "Never before has this facility looked better, and we can proudly say that it will now serve the student body in helping them maintain personal health and wellness. Many thanks to our partners from OIA, the support of the Calvo family, and everyone who made this day possible."

The new Triton Fitness Center is just the first phase of a two-phase $3 million project funded by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the University of Guam capital improvement project fund.

“I’m excited to see this gym nearing completion,” said Grant Management Specialist Keith Aughenbaugh from the Department of the Interior/ Office of Insular Affairs. “I’ve seen it progress from not so good to wonderful.”

Acting Governor Ray Tenorio said investing in UOG and its facilities sets our students up to be the future leaders of the island.

“This is a place where the next generation comes from,” he said. “I’m proud to be a product of the University of Guam, and I’m proud to see this facility. You know what this place used to look like. It needed help. In the end making an investment in our University is making an investment on our kids and making an investment in our future.”

The Triton Fitness Center will only be open to UOG students with a student ID for the time being Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please stay tuned because membership rates for alumni, employees, and the general community are being developed.
