UOG Alumna Receives Prestigious Research Fellowship

Laurie Tumaneng, a 2013 University of Guam graduate with a  double major in Political Science and Sociology, has been awarded the 2014 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Fellowship. The fellowship, which pays a stipend of $32,000 per year for up to three years, selects students based on "outstanding abilities and accomplishments, as well as potential to contribute to strengthening the vitality of the US science and engineering enterprise."

"We are proud of Laurie's achievement of this prestigious Fellowship," said Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez, Interim Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, UOG.  "This is attributed in no small part to her incredible advancement pursuits and dedicated faculty mentors at the University of Guam."

Tumaneng, who had been previously awarded a full scholarship to complete her doctorate in political science at Pennsylvania State University, is also a 2013-2014 American Political Science Association Minority Fellowship Award recipient.
