University of Guam

The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team fell to the Toothfaries on Thursday night in the UOG Calvo Field House 91-82 in a controversial game where the officials ejected UOG Head Coach Brent Tipton on his second technical of the game. The Tritons came out playing well in the game, and had a 17-9 lead in the first quarter (4:14 left in the quarter) but the Toothfaries (last year's Champions, the Sushi Rockets) made a run and by the end of the quarter led the game 25-21. The UOG team started the 2nd quarter slowly, only scoring 4 points in first 5 minutes of the 2nd quarter and trailed 48-37 at half.

In the third period, the Toothfaries were able to maintain their 10 point advantage most of the quarter and led 64-54 at the end of the third period. The Tritons came alive in the 4th quarter and cut the lead to just 4 points. A three pointer by (WHO WAS IT) was waived off after a referee called a second technical foul on Coach Tipton for standing up, which is allowable under FIBA rules.

UOG was not able to sustain its momentum and lost 91-82. The Tritons were led by Eric Reyes with 20 points, Devin San Agustin with 15, David Elias 12 and Jorge Piolo 10. Earvin Jose led the Toothfaries with 31 points, and Merwin Martin added 23.

The Tritons are now 0-9 on the season and play the final game of the regular season on Sunday at 2:00pm in the Phoenix Center against the Bombers.
