The University of Guam Men's Soccer Team won on Monday night at the Guam Football
Association Soccer Complex 1-0 over the Sinko EuroCar team in the GFA Men's League
(Division II). The win makes the Tritons 2-0 on the young season.
In the first half, both the Tritons and EuroCars had several chances to score, as
both teams offensives were providing opportunities but with aggressive goalkeeper
play from both sides, the chances were blocked or taken away. Both teams were scoreless
after the first 45 period.
In the 2nd half, the same was true, several opportunities presented itself but neither
team was able to score until about halfway through the final 45 minutes when UOG's
William Naden beat one man to the box and the ball and slide the ball by the charging
goalkeeper into an unguarded net for a score. Naden is a brand new player for the
Tritons who had just joined the team.
The EuroCars put pressure on the Tritons the rest of the half but the Triton defense
led by goalkeeper Mike Topasna were able to keep the EuroCars out of the net for the
victory.
The Tritons go 2-0 on the season and play next on October 28th at 7:00pm at the GFA
Soccer Complex Vs. FC Beercelona.
