Taiguini Books to Launch a CHamoru Language Children’s Book

1/5/2018

In the CHamoru culture, grandparents play an important role in the raising of children. Sisters-in-law Simone and Dana Bollinger captured this special relationship in their book entitled Ma Guaiya Yu’, si Nåna yan si Tåta (Grandma and Grandpa Love Me), which will be launched at the University of Guam RFK Library on March 12, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Ma Guaiya Yu’, si Nåna yan si Tåta is a vibrant picture book featuring lovely watercolor illustrations by Cielo de los Reyes that depict the many ways grandparents show their love to their grandchildren – from holding hands in church to going on hikes in the jungle, and much more. Ma Guaiya Yu’, si Nåna yan si Tåta is written entirely in the CHamoru language with repetitive phrases, making it easy and fun for adults and children to learn CHamoru together.

The book launch will feature a special presentation by the authors and illustrator, followed by arts and crafts activities. The books will be available for sale at $12 per book.
