RPSO Yellow Snags Ping Pong Victory
The Republic of Palau Student Organization Yellow (RPSO Yellow) team defeated the
UOG Alumni team to take first place in the Ping Pong at the second event of the 4th Annual President’s Cup.
Mai Sadao and Lebuu Gibbons of RPSO Yellow came back after losing to Mark Burgos and
Jasemina Lemalisei of the UOG alumni in the fourth round only to face them again in
the championship game, where they defeated them two matches in a row to claim their
victory. RPSO won both sets of each match.
Gibbons, who was on the winning team in Ping Pong at last year’s cup, said it felt
good to come back and beat the alumni after losing to them earlier in the tournament.
“It was frustrating,” he said, “but you just have to keep going and do it again.”
Sadao, who plays recreationally, said it was exciting to win because it was her first
year playing with the team.
