The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team was defeated by the MVP 113 to 77 in front of a large and loud UOG crowd on Tuesday night in the UOG Calvo Field House for Triton Night.

The MVP team was led by Joe Blas who scored 30 points and JP Cruz who added 24. Four Tritons scored in double digits. Devin San Austin led the way with 13, Andrew Carlos 12, David Elias 11, and Jorge Piolo 10. San Agustin also grabbed 8 rebounds as well to lead the Tritons in that category.

MVP came out strong from the beginning, leading 32-18 after the first period and 56-41 at half-time. The game was physical and tough, and much of the game was spent on the free throw line where MVP made 29 of 37, and UOG made 15 of 26. Both teams pounded the ball inside with MVP outscoring the Tritons 56 to 52 in the paint.

At Triton Night, nearly 700 fans were introduced to this year's crop of UOG athletes: the Men's Basketball team, the Men's and Women's Soccer Teams and the UOG Women's Volleyball Team. The audience was also treated to live music in the debut of the Triton Pep Band and also enjoyed free refreshments, half-time entertainment, and a prize raffle.

UOG President Robert Underwood remarked that this was the biggest crowd he's seen in 20 years at a UOG Men's Basketball game.

The Tritons play the Toothfairies at 5 p.m. Oct. 20 at the UOG Calvo Field House.
